NOTIFICATION #2:

To All Requestors:

Supply Chain will go-live with LINC (Lawson) on July 1, 2011.

What does this mean to you?

CAS and CATALYST, our current systems, will not be available after June 30, 2011.

Beginning July 1, 2011, all commodity requisitions (requests) will be entered directly into Lawson Requisition Self Service (RSS).  Pending the necessary approval process, these electronic requisitions will be converted into purchase orders and placed with the supplier/vendor by the Purchasing Department.  All Requestors will be trained on the new system prior to go-live.

We will no longer utilize “Blanket Orders” and “Master Orders” after June 30th.  Any requisitions requesting either Blanket or Master Orders will be returned to the requestor.  After go-live, these types of purchase orders will be accommodated as follows:

Blanket Orders:  shopping lists can be created from those items that have been approved and pre-loaded into the Lawson Item Master; your Buyer can assist with the addition of items to the Item Master

Master Orders:  what is known today as a "Master Order Release" will be accommodated in Lawson by creating "individual" electronic requisitions via Lawson RSS

You will continue to generate traditional paper Requisitions for the following requests:  Service Agreements; Maintenance Agreements, and, in most cases, Capital Equipment.  The Service/Maintenance Agreements that will continue to be initiated via the traditional paper requisition process will be those that include documentation that requires internal review/approval (e.g. Legal, compliance).

One-time service requests that do not require these approvals will be entered directly into Lawson RSS as a "service" requisition.  All Capital Equipment requests, except those for the Adult Hospital, will continue to utilize the paper requisition process.  Adult Hospital Capital Equipment requests are now being facilitated with the newly introduced SharePoint process.

If you have already sent Requisitions to Supply Chain - Purchasing for Service or Maintenance Agreements for the new fiscal year, your new Lawson Service/Maintenance Order will be issued when Lawson goes live on July 1.

The Lawson integration process and ease of ordering through the Lawson RSS system should facilitate your purchasing needs.  Of course, Supply Chain - Purchasing and your Buyer will be available to answer any questions.

NOTIFICATION #3:

Effective December 1, 2010, University of Mississippi Medical Center will utilize Global Location Numbers (GLNs) in lieu of ship-to/deliver addresses.  At this point, UMMC suppliers/business partners should replace existing ship-to/delivery addresses with the corresponding GLN in appropriate business transactions.  Click here for the link to GLN Spreadsheet

What is a Global Location Number?  A globally unique 13-digit number that identifies:

  • Physical locations
  • Legal entities
  • Functional entities

GLN's can be assigned to any location (loading docks, nursing stations, patient rooms, etc.)  Once UMMC and business partners begin to utilize GLN's, UMMC will only have to maintain a single list of delivery points in the GLN Registry.  Novation (GPO) and suppliers will automatically receive updates as they are made to the registry.

GLNs not only ensure that the right product arrives at the right place at the right time, it also enables more efficient business practices and helps to drive down supply chain costs.

GLN 2010 Sunrise is the industry-wide use of standardized location identification GLNs in lieu of custom account/location numbers.  This means by December 31, 2010:

  • GLNs are assigned by location owners
  • GLNs are used in appropriate business transactions and processes between trading partners
  • GLN hierachy is defined and maintained by location owners
  • GLN Registry for Healthcare is used to facilitate correct location identification

You may click on the link above to see UMMC's surrent Global Location Numbers.  The GLNs should supersede ship-to/delivery addresses presently in your database.  Please contact William "Derick" Washer at (601) 984-2982 or via email at wwasher@umc.edu.
